Registering for classes

immanuel kantThis week I registered for my January classes! That’s right, plural! I will be taking two class in January! I will be taking an Ethics class (my second-to-last gen ed!). I am not thrilled about this class as philosophy has never been something I really enjoyed, but I’m sure it will be useful nonetheless. You can check out the syllabus here. We will be reading John Stewart Mill’s Utilitarianism, Immanuel Kant’s Groundwork of the Metaphysical Morals, and Aristotle’sNichomachean Ethics. I already ordered the books, though I can’t say I’m super excited about any of them! Oh well, such is life!

And finally I will be taking a class that I’m actually looking forward to! History of Latin America. I know it is ridiculous that I lived in Latin America for seven years and know relatively little about its history, but I’m planning on remedying that during the months of January, February, and March! Unfortunately, the professor has yet to post a syllabus, however there is a master syllabus available here. The other unfortunate issue is that the professor has also not given the bookstore a list of the books we will need, so I don’t know what I need to order! There is a list in the master syllabus but the professor normally just chooses a couple of those books as required text. So I’m just waiting to find out about that. In the mean time, I continue on with my computer class. This week and last week I have been learning Microsoft Access, which I had never used before, and I feel like it’s been pretty useful. I’ll be done in just 2 1/2 weeks!
